BlsckBox Nigeria gathered that El-Rufai revealed the new figure on the incident after he had a security meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, February 19.
The security meeting which was called by the president was to deliberate on the insecurity issue not just in Kaduna, but in Yobe, Adamawa, and Borno states. The governor also made a comment on those who earlier doubted the occurrence of the event, saying the doubters are “grossly irresponsible”.
He said he is a governor that is very much abreast of the security situation in his state through security briefings. Ahmad Abdulrahman, the state’s police commissioner who was also in attendance at the meeting, said eight suspects had been arrested.
Recall that BlackBox Nigeria earlier reported that as Nigeria prepared for the 2019 presidential election, 66 people lost their lives to attack by gunmen in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state.
According to reports, among the victims were 22 children and 12 women while four wounded persons were said to have been rescued by security agents.
Reacting to claims by some people that he fabricated the killings of 66 people of Fulani origin killed in Kajuru, El-Rufai said he would not tolerate people trying to politicise the killings.
The state government’s statement came after Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) said the governor’s comment over the Kajuru killings was deliberately orchestrated to inflame ethnic and religious sentiments to produce yet another cycle of bloodshed in the state
