Veteran Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has refuted allegations of unruly behavior during a ValueJet flight boarding at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on August 5, 2025.
In a statement issued on August 6, by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, K1 dismissed reports claiming he breached aviation protocols or endangered safety.
He clarified that the liquid in question was plain drinking water provided at the airport lounge, not alcohol as alleged. Despite his attempts to explain, the situation escalated unnecessarily.
Contrary to claims that he disrupted operations, K1 emphasized his adherence to aviation regulations.
He noted that if his conduct had been inappropriate, officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and ValueJet’s management would not have extended personal apologies or offered a complimentary private jet to Lagos—a gesture he declined.
K1 asserted that he was the sole individual directly involved in the incident, accompanied only by his personal assistant.
He appreciated fellow passengers who urged him to remain calm during the episode.
The incident has prompted investigations by FAAN and the NCAA.
The NCAA has suspended the licenses of the ValueJet pilot and co-pilot for initiating departure procedures without proper clearance, violating safety protocols.
Corroborating his statement, a close ally, Bolaji Basia made a post about K1’s health status noting that he was advised by doctor to always stay hydrated after he was hospitalised a while ago.
K1’s team urges the public and media to avoid sensationalism and await the outcomes of official investigations.
