Just In! Nigerian Police And Interpol Burst Criminal Syndicate In Abuja, Nab 3
The Nigerian Police has announced the arrest of three suspects of different criminal syndicate groups for defrauding several innocent persons, including foreign nationals.
The operation was carried out by operatives of the IGP Response Team, Cyber crime Unit and the InterPol. The operation also led to the rescue of an American citizen who has been held since February, 2019 by one of the suspects.
According to the official statement from the Force Headquarters, the three suspects include, Samson Inegbenesun (30yrs), Blessed Junior (32yrs) and Mohammed Zakari (36yrs). All the suspects were arrested Uromi, Edo State on cyber-related offences including advance fee fraud, money laundering and romance scam.
It was reported that the suspects were fingered in an investigation which involved fraudulent online procurement and supply of COVID19 protective mask. The Police disclosed that details of the fraudulent act was contained in an information made available by the InterPol NCB Wiesbaden, Germany.
Among items recovered from the suspects included a buikding apartment worth N120m, one 2015 Toyota RAV-4 and 2002 Matrix both with a worth of N8.5m, all were reportedly procured with the proceeds of their crimes.
The statement added that in line with the Cybercrime Prevention/Prohibition Act, 2015 all three suspects will be charged to Court on conclusion of investigations.
