Former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, has been arrested by security agencies in Niger Republic.
The Punch reported that the ex-pension boss was nabbed, on Monday, by Nigerian security agencies.
Maina is currently facing a 12-count trial over allegations of money laundering to the tune of N2bn, being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Following his repeated absence in court since September 29, 2020, Maina was presumed to have jumped bail.
Senator Ali Ndume who stood as a surety for him in the trial was remanded in Kuje correctional facility last Monday. Though, the lawmaker was later released four days after, by the court.
