Amid preparations for the 2023 presidential polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that the election is scheduled to hold on February 23, 2023.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this known during a press briefing in Abuja, on Saturday.
The electoral umpire boss further disclosed that the National Assembly elections will hold on the same day, while governorship and state house of assembly polls will take place two weeks after, precisely on March 11, 2023.
Yakubu stated that the adjustment in the date for the 2023 general election was in line with the provisions of the Electoral Bill which was signed President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.
“The detailed Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2023 Ceneral Election will be circulated to the media at the end of this briefing. Soft copies will also be uploaded to the Commission’s website and social media platforms immediately. In addition, the Notice of Election will be published in our offices in all the States of the Federation as required by law on Monday 28th February 2022,” he added.
