The abducted schoolgirls of Government Secondary School in Jangebe, Talata-Mafara local government area in Zamfara State have been released.
Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Bello Matawalle, announced this development in a tweet on Tuesday morning.
“Alhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe,” he said.

Recall gunmen in the early hours of last Friday had invaded the secondary school, abducting the schoolgirls in the process and loaded them in buses.
The governor, however, put the number of girls recovered at 279, while the police had earlier said 317 girls were kidnapped.
