Journalists injured as hoodlums attack Tinubu’s convoy in Lagos

There was palpable tension in the Lagos Island area of Lagos on Sunday after suspected hoodlums attacked the convoy of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu, accompanied by dignitaries, was said to have visited the palace of Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwanu Akiolu, on his return to his home state after his victory at the recent APC special convention.

Report has it that the incident occurred while the presidential hopeful was heading to his Bourdilion Ikoyi residence from the palace.

The said hoodlums reportedly attacked Tinubu’s convoy as it drove from the palace, throwing stones at the vehicles and vandalising them with cutlasses.

A bus conveying journalists attached to the office of the Lagos State governor was also attacked in the process, as a number of journalists were reported to have sustained injuries.

According to The Guild, one of the affected journalists was a correspondent attached to the State House from Western Post, an online medium, and identified as Lola Ogunrinde, who was hit on her right eye.

However, the APC presidential flagbearer was not affected in the attack as he was said to have managed to escape with his convoy.
