Former Nigerian President, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan have suggested a final solution to the crisis ridden People’s Democratic Party as he asks the two factional leaders to step down in order to give way for a new National Chairman.
Speaking with the press yesterday, Dr Jonathan called on the duo of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi to sheath their swords and allow unity in the Party.
Recall that the former leader last week hosted Senator Sheriff in his Abuja home after the Court of Appeal affirmed his victory as the substantial Chairman of the main opposition party. After the meeting, Jonathan revealed that the party has only one faction and process were underway to unite all members.
In same vein, Jonathan also hosted the Makarfi faction backed with Governors elected under the Party. After the meeting, he briefed that the soul goal was to reunite the party.
Jonathan highlighted that since the activities of both caretaker Chairman , Makarfi and controversial Chairman Sheriff are tearing the party apart, it was best for both of them to step them and give way for a fresh National Chairman.
He advised that the party’s Governors Forum should be allowed to appoint a new Chairman in a scheduled National Convention.
