Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has threatened to sack any Public School teacher planning to join the industrial action scheduled by the National Union of Teachers, NUT.

In a tweet early Monday morning, the former FCT Minister disclosed that the State Government will not tolerate any blackmail from any group of persons.

Reports gathered has it that the planned strike may not be unconnected to the recent retrenchment of teachers in the State after they failed an Aptitude Test given by the State Government. The Labour union has been trying to convince the Governor to reverse the mass sack and carry out training for the teachers are were unable to pass the Test organised by the State Universal Board for Education (SUBEB).

He tweeted, “The children of the poor are the ones that attend public primary schools in Kaduna. We owe them a decent standard of education, and we shall provide it.

“Any public school teacher who wishes to join NUT’s indefinite strike risks dismissal from service. We can’t be blackmailed.”
