Joe Igbokwe Lashes Out At Bolaji Abdullahi, Faults National Working Committee Over Muiz Banire

The Lagos State Publicity Secretary Of the All Progressives Congress, Mr Joe Igbokwe has lashed out at the Acting National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi for taking sides with embattled Dr Muiz Banire who is currently running in troubled waters from his local chapter.

A statement issued by Mr Igbokwe stated that the State Chapter described the position of the National Working Committee as hasty and an assault on democracy for faulting the legitimacy of Mushin chapter to suspend an erring member.

It will be recalled that the Mushin chapter of the party had announced the suspension of Dr Banire for carrying out anti-party activities, but the suspension has since been tagged as invalid as Banire declared the local chapter of being unable to suspend him as he is a National officer of the party, being the National Legal Adviser, a position that the NWC also stamped.

Mr Igbokwe urged Mallam Abdullahi to learn from the former NPS, TImi Frank whose problem started from his local chapter and also advised him to thread softly and not parade himself as the NPS just yet.

He said, “Is BOLAJI not aware that he is not yet a substantive National Publicity Secretary until otherwise stated in a Congress? Does it not amount to brigandage and playing to the gallery by naming himself the National Publicity Secretary when the position is still enmeshed in controversy?

“Is Bolaji not learning one or two lessons from the former National Assistant Publicity Secretary, Timi Frank whose problem started from his local chapter? This emergency step into Banire’s matter cannot fly.

Igbokwe added that any arm of the party, either Local or State/National level is empowered by Law to suspend any erring member/officer just as the leaders and followers in the local chapters also have powers to do the needful when their representatives step out of the track.

Let it be made known that the National Executive Committee of our great Party acted in a haste to try to rescue the sagging and battered image of Muiz Banire who is having a running battle with his political base in Lagos. The Lagos Chapter of APC will support and encourage our patriotic and hardworking followers from Mushin LGA to exercise their fundamental human rights without let or hindrance.”
