On Saturday, September 14th, Honourable Adegoke Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Local Government, received praise from the Ndi Igbo and other ethnic communities in Ikorodu for his initiative, the “Apo Anu” food distribution program.
This program, overseen by the ICare Foundation under Hon. Benson’s leadership, aims to alleviate food insecurity by providing monthly food packages capable of sustaining a family of four for a week. It has become a lifeline for many in the 6 districts of Ikorodu.
Dean Sanwo Ola, Director General of the Care Foundation, highlighted the program’s inclusive approach, emphasizing, “Jimi Benson ensures there is no discrimination based on ethnicity. Ikorodu operates 30 wards, managed as if they were 34, ensuring every ethnic group—Ndi Igbo, South-South, Arewa, and North Central—benefits equally. We distribute 500 packs of food monthly through religious and traditional institutions, ensuring fair access across Ikorodu.”
Mrs. Onyeneka Ceciliia, the coordinator for Ikorodu North Ndi Igbo APC, expressed gratitude, saying, “Apo Anu has brought joy to many. If more leaders were like Jimi Benson, our community would face fewer challenges.”
Chief Mrs. Eze, leader of Ikorodu’s Ndi Igbo community, praised Hon. Benson’s inclusive leadership: “Jimi Benson treats everyone equally. He supports infrastructure and transportation, demonstrating a commitment to improving lives.”
Chief Oka Egbu, the Ndi Igbo coordinator in Ikorodu, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Hon. Benson’s efforts are easing hardships. We need more leaders like him.”
Abdul Ahmed Ndagi, representing North Central residents, remarked, “He has truly made a difference. If more representatives were like him, our communities would thrive.”
Another anonymous beneficiary also highlighted Jimi Benson’s generosity and expressed a desire for him to be nominated for the state’s governorship election.
