I am delighted to extend my warmest congratulations to a truly compassionate, practical, and selfless lawmaker and leader.
He has been a pioneer, a guiding light, and a source of hope not only to his immediate constituents but to everything, both living and non-living, within his sphere of influence.
His journey into the legislative chamber, representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency since 2015, has been characterized by excellence and widely recognized as the pinnacle of political history in the Division.
Like a brilliant diamond in the sky, Jimi Benson shines brightly and consistently surpasses expectations in his three core legislative functions of oversight, legislation, and representation.
Both eligible voters and residents alike celebrate and rejoice daily to the transformative agenda emanating from his office, which produces a diverse mix of impactful initiatives.
The nine years of Babajimi Benson’s tenure in the Federal House of Representatives have been nothing short of remarkable and magical. Residents continue to marvel at the seemingly miraculous progress he has brought to the political landscape, legislative arena, and infrastructural development of Ikorodu, the third largest city in South West, Nigeria.
Affectionately referred to as the “Julius Berger of Ikorodu” by his beloved constituents, he has successfully overseen the completion of over 40 roads in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency. This journey began in 2015 with the motion for the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Isagamu road.
Furthermore, he expanded his efforts to include the construction of access roads with solar street lights across the Ikorodu Local Government and five other LCDAs in the Ikorodu Division.
Since 2016, his Constituency Office has become a hub of assistance for the needy, widows, the elderly, the physically challenged, the unemployed, and other vulnerable members of society.
Popularly known as ‘Alapo Anu’, Benson, through his iCare Foundation, has provided relief to over 30,000 households, distributing at least 500 food packs to residents every month.
As a servant leader, he prioritizes the needs of his constituents, shuttling between Abuja and Lagos to fulfill his sworn oath to the good people of Ikorodu. He has made the residents feel as though Abuja is just a stone’s throw away from his Ebute-Igbogbo road Constituency office.
His unwavering commitment to human capital development is extraordinary, providing gainful employment opportunities in various Federal and State Ministries, Departments, and Agencies. He also sponsors impactful empowerment programs and skill training, both locally and internationally.
As a torchbearer, Jimi Benson has touched countless lives. As a legal luminary, he has brought enlightenment to Ikorodu. As a unifier, he has fostered unity in Ikorodu’s politics, even in the face of adversity. And ultimately, as the air that is essential for life, he has permeated every corner of Ikorodu.
His exceptional benevolence has earned him the nickname ‘Olowo tí ó mọ Monday’ (a wealthy man who gives, even on a Monday morning).
In summary, Jimi Benson is a man of many qualities, who holds different meanings for different people. He always draws inspiration from John Wesley’s quote to inspire greatness:
“Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can.”
