JAMB Releases New Cut Off Marks, Applicants With 100marks Can Now Gain Admission
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has announced the new minimum cut-off marks required for applicants who sit for the yearly entrance examination into tertiary institutions. The body, which is saddled with the responsibility of organising the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination has announced that the lowest score for possible admission is 100 marks, out of possible 400.
According to the exam body, the new cut-off mark for Universities is 120, while that of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education was set at 100 and Innovative Enterprising Institutes was pegged for 110. This new review is downwards when compared to the earlier cut-off marks.
The body however revealed that institutions are at liberty to raise their cut off marks for admission but should not be lower than the approved marks.
Also, JAMB notified that admissions into government varsities for the 2017 UTME examination will end on January 15th, 2018 while that of privately owned institutions will extend till January 31st.
The registrar of the board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede appealed to all the institutions not to charge more than N2,000 for their own examination fees.
