The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday has announced the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said over 1.9 million candidates took the exam nationwide.
However, he noted that the results of 39,834 candidates are currently being withheld pending the outcome of investigations into various irregularities.
Oloyede disclosed that 80 individuals are under investigation for examination malpractice, with Anambra State recording the highest number of suspects 14 in total.
Additionally, 50 candidates have been directly linked to cheating, and 467 underage candidates managed to score above the minimum cut-off mark.
Preliminary data released by the examination body showed a modest overall performance.
Of the 1,955,069 results available, only 12,414 candidates representing just 0.63% scored above 300 points.
Furthermore, 420,415 candidates (22%) scored above 200, while a staggering 78% failed to meet that benchmark.
In light of these findings, JAMB urged candidates to check their results by sending the word “RESULT” followed by their registration number via SMS to 55019 or 66019.
Prof. Oloyede reaffirmed the board’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the examination process and warned that any individuals found guilty of cheating or fraudulent practices would face the full weight of the law.
