Candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria will now be required to score at least 140 in their UTME.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) after a meeting with tertiary education stakeholders adopted the new score as the minimum cut-off mark for 2022 admission.
The meeting held in Abuja on Thursday was chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
The cut-off mark for polytechnics and colleges of education was also reviewed and pegged at 100.
JAMB’s registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, who announced the cut-off marks, said the implication was that every institution had the right to fix its own cut-off mark even up to 220 but no one would be allowed to go less than the agreed minimum marks of 100 for colleges of education, 100 for polytechnics and 140 for universities.
In a related development, the meeting also resolved that no institution can accept the transfer of a candidate for any degree programme unless the candidate has spent on full-time, not less than two consecutive sessions in the institution.
