By Alhaji Suleiman Adeshina, popularly known as “Jafo Authority” has been appointed as the new Oniba of Iba, following the demise of Oba Goriola Yishau Oseni, who went to join his ancestors in May, 2020.
The late monarch, who reigned for 45years, ascended the throne of his forefathers at age 31.
Adeshina, on Monday, was presented with the royal staff and other paraphernalia of office. Jafo Authority is the Chairman of the Nagari Makowa Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association (NNAMORA), Lagos State chapter.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the new Oniba is from the Idowu Balogun branch of the Idomila ruling house of Iba town.
There are two prominent branches of the ruling house in Iba which are the Oduntan ruling house which produced the late Oba Gorila Oseni and past 5 successive kings and the Idowu Balogun Branch of the Idomila ruling house where Adeshina originates from.
Before now, there have been several legal battles over the eligibility of the Idowu Balogun branch as a credible member who can nominate and produce kings for Iba town.
However, in a judgement on 3rd of July 2018, Justice Okunnu of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, pronounced the Idowu Balogun Branch as a legitimate arm of the Idomila ruling house with equal rights to present a candidate for the ancestral stool of Oniba.
