Following the 4-1 trashing by Watford, Manchester United’s board of executives have made known their intention to relieve under-fire manager, Ole Gunner Solskajaer of his job.
United have endured one of their worst Premier League campaign this season and Solskajaer seems to be clueless on how to revive the prestigious club.
The loss to Watford appeared to be the last straw for the Norwegian as his four-year reign at Old Trafford nears an abrupt end. Despite flocks of stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sancho, Cavani, Pogba, De Gea, and the likes, Solskajaer’s inconsistency gets glaring in almost all United’s match this season.
The Norwegian had for long lost trust in the fans, but still retained that of the club’s board, particularly former coach, Sir Alex Ferguson. But in the wake of Saturday’s defeat, it seemed the board have grown out of patience, forcing them to make a long awaited decision.
Sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano in a tweet posted late yesterday, said Manchester United are processing compensation and written agreement for the sack of Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
“Manchester United working on Compensation and written agreement with Ole Gunner Solskjaer. It’s gonna be ‘mutual agreement’ to part ways, as reported before. Solskjaer will leave. It is over.
“Official Statement expected in the next hours, once paperwork will be completed,” he wrote.
As it stands, Darren Fletcher has been tipped to be the interim manager until a new boss is signed. The former United player and the club’s current technical director will be assisted by another former player, Micheal Carrick in preparation for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Villarreal.
Meanwhile, there are speculations on former Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane becoming the new United’s manager. But the board has played down such talks as they focus on how to get rid of Ole Gunner Solskjaer.
