It’s official! Erik ten Hag is new Manchester United manager

English giants, Manchester United has confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag as their new manager from the end of this season until June 2025.

The club announced this in a statement on its website on Thursday morning, saying the three-year deal includes an option to extend for a further year.

Manchester United Football Director, John Murtough said the 52-year-old gaffer “has proved himself to be one of the most exciting and successful coaches in Europe”.

“In our conversations with Erik leading up to this appointment, we were deeply impressed with his long-term vision for returning Manchester United to the level we want to be competing at, and his drive and determination to achieve that,” Murtough was quoted as saying in the state.

Speaking on his appointment, the former Ajax boss described it as “a great honour”, adding that he is “hugely excited by the challenge ahead”.

“It will be difficult to leave Ajax after these incredible years, and I can assure our fans of my complete commitment and focus on bringing this season to a successful conclusion before I move to Manchester United,” he said.

The Dutchman will be taking over from Ralf Rangnick who assumed temporary charge of the side following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in November. Following his impressive stint at AFC Ajax, eyes will be on Erik to have a stab at turning United’s fortunes around.
