A wave of dissatisfaction has swept through Isolo and Ejigbo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) following the recent release of Lagos State’s cabinet nominees.

The Concerned Progressive Youth of Isolo/Ejigbo Federal Constituency II, representing the youth wing of a prominent political party within Oshodi Isolo Constituency II, has penned an open letter to the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressing grave concern over the exclusion of their party members from the list.

In the letter addressed to the Governor, the group highlighted their disappointment, as it decried the perceived disregard for the Isolo and Ejigbo constituents.

Notably, the letter pointed out that a similar exclusion had occurred in 2019, suggesting an ongoing trend of sidelining the constituency from key government appointments.

The group stressed that Isolo and Ejigbo, collectively referred to as the Isolo/Ejigbo Federal Constituency II, have been significant contributors to the political and economic growth of Lagos State.

Despite this, it stated that the constituency has not secured a single representative in the executive cabinet of the State Government since 2019, leading to accusations of being treated as mere election tools.

“We have been steadfastly supporting the Government by defending and promoting its policies to the people,” the letter stated.

However, the absence of representation has triggered concerns about fairness and justice in the selection process, raising questions about the party’s commitment to its constituents.

The Concerned Progressive Youth further emphasized the crucial role of political leverage and goodwill in sustaining government policies and ideals.

It argued that the absence of appointees with strong political influence, has hampered the party’s electoral performance and contributed to the negative perception that “Monkey dey work, Baboon dey chop,” echoing across party structures.

To rectify the situation, the group therefore urged Mr. Governor to prioritize inclusivity and fairness in his appointments.

They specifically called for the inclusion of a commissioner nominee and representatives as board chairman and members of various State Government parastatals from Isolo and Ejigbo LCDAs.

The open letter was not only addressed to the Governor but was also copied to several influential figures within the Lagos State government and the party, including the Deputy Governor, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and members of the Governor Advisory Council.
