Popular American YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed has stirred fresh conversation online after reports emerged that he may be granted Ghanaian citizenship following the conclusion of his Africa tour.

The development, which has gained traction across social media platforms, followed IShowSpeed’s recent visit to Ghana as part of a multi-country African tour that included stops in Morocco, Senegal, and Nigeria.

During his time in Ghana, the content creator publicly expressed admiration for the country’s culture and hinted at ancestral ties with his mother being a Ghanaian, fuelling speculation about a possible Ghanaian passport.

Posts circulating online claim that the streamer could be granted citizenship through heritage links. However, these claims remain verified, with Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that his office had approved the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to the YouTube star, describing him as a worthy ambassador for Ghana and the African continent.

IShowSpeed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr., commands tens of millions of subscribers globally and has attracted massive attention across Africa for his energetic live streams and interactions with fans during the tour. His visit to Ghana drew crowds and significant online engagement, with many praising the warm reception he received.

While Ghana allows citizenship through descent under certain conditions, analysts note that such processes are formal and typically involve extensive documentation.

The Africa visit has been widely described as a turning point for IShowSpeed, strengthening his connection with African audiences and amplifying his global cultural influence .
