Speculation is mounting over a potential political ambition by Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige following the circulation of campaign-style graphics bearing her name ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The images, which have been shared across social media, contain phrases such as “Ready to Lead,” “Guided by Purpose, Driven by People,” and “Justice and Progress.” One of the prominent banners reads: “#2027 – Dr. Aminat Olawunmi Ige – YEYE OGE IS COMING,” with branding linked to the Alimosho Liberation Group, suggesting she may be eyeing a role in Lagos State’s Alimosho political landscape.

Although there has been no official announcement from Dr. Ige, the tone and design of the visuals have led to public speculation that she may be preparing to contest for office in 2027.

Dr. Ige is a respected academic and currently lectures in the Department of Mathematics at Lagos State University (LASU), where she also serves as Assistant Director at the Directorate of Advancement. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Lagos, where her research on metric-type spaces earned her the award for best doctoral thesis at the university’s 54th convocation ceremony in 2023.

Outside academia, Dr. Ige is a cancer survivor and the founder of the YOA Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment and advocacy for girl-child education. Her personal journey through adversity—including loss, health challenges, and single motherhood—has contributed to her growing public profile.

While her intentions remain unconfirmed, the recent developments indicate a possible foray into politics, with many closely watching what steps she takes next.
