In the spirit of marking this year’s International Widows Day, iCare Foundation, a people focused charity organisation owned by Honourable Babajimi Benson representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, is set to distribute sacks of food stuff tagged Apo Aanu to Single Parent, Widow and Physically Challenged residents through its iCare Food Bank.
In a text made available to BlackBox Nigeria, the food ration distribution is scheduled for Saturday, 24th of June by 10am at Honourable Babajimi Benson’s Constituency Office along Ebute-Igbogbo Road, off Solebo Gate.
This month’s raw food distribution will be the 7th in a roll and have lifted over 7,000 people in Ikorodu Division by giving the Apo Aanu (food sacks) to 300 families every month since late 2016.
In line with its transparent policy of ensuring the food rations get to people in dire needed it, iCare Foundation is also calling the public to nominate those in dire need.

International Widows Day is a United Nations ratified day of action to address the “poverty and injustice faced by millions of widows and their dependents in many countries, “ and it is marked every June 23rd.
According to recent statistics, there are estimated 245 million widows worldwide, while 115 million of the figure live in poverty and suffer from social stigmatization and economic deprivation purely because they have lost their husbands.
