Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission has put a hold on all electoral activities in crisis-laden Rivers State.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the suspension was announced by INEC National Commissioner on Voters Education, Professor Okoye after incidences of election disruptions were reported across the State.
It was learnt that in addition to several violence that marred several polling units, some Ad-hoc staff were also abducted while on official duties.
Professor Okoye noted that the cancellation of the exercise was necessary and the decision was reached after the body had an emergency meeting early Sunday morning to examine incidents around the State.
