Nigerian music star Inetimi Alfred Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has dismissed speculations about his retirement from music, clarifying that he is only taking a break.
The “Dem Mama” hitmaker addressed the rumors in a post on his official X handle, saying,
“No be say the boy retire, the boy just been dey sleep….”
The clarification comes after fans began to question his prolonged silence in the music scene. Timaya, known for his energetic performances and dancehall-infused sound, reassured followers that he hasn’t quit music, only paused momentarily.
Timaya began his solo career in 2005 with the release of the powerful debut single ‘Dem Mama’, a song that highlighted the 1999 Odi massacre in his home state of Bayelsa.
His debut album ‘True Story’, released in 2006, established him as a major force in Nigeria’s music industry.
Over the course of two decades, Timaya has released eight albums, one EP, and dozens of hit singles.
He has also collaborated with international artists, including Grammy-winning acts like Sean Paul and Morgan Heritage.
