Ikorodu Youths Call For Inclusion Of Ikorodu Division In Constitution Of Lagos State Appointments

Concerned youths of Ikorodu Division at a press conference held at Falcoms (Café) Lounge & Bar, opposite Mobil Petro Station, Ipakodo – Ebute, today, added their voices to the clamour by other stakeholders in the Ikorodu Division on the need to include Ikorodu Division in the newly constituted Lagos State local government service commission (LSLGSC) and every other appointments to be made by the All Progressives Congress led Executive in Lagos State.

Recall that, on November 3, 2020, the Lagos Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the nomination of the new chairman and members of the Lagos State local government service commission without recognising Ikorodu Division in the appointment.

The youths appealed to Governor Sanwoolu to use his good office to correct the Injustice by reconstituting the commission to include a representative of Ikorodu Division before sending it to the Lagos State House of Assembly for screening Approval.

R-L: Kunle Adelabu, Mrs Rukayat Akinpelu-Onabanjo, Mr Hameed Aroyewun at the press conference held in Ikorodu today.

According to the youths, the good people of Ikorodu gave full support to the administration of Mr Governor and expects to be treated fairly and justly, but from all indications nothing as changed from what the indigenes of Ikorodu have been experiencing since the advent of the Democratic dispensation in 1999 that Ikorodu started witnessing marginalization in terms of political appointments and allocation of projects.

The Ikorodu Youths also expressed their displeasure on how the youths of Ikorodu have always been ignored for government positions despite the active role they took in the smooth administration of Lagos State government over time.

The youths hereby humbly request that the Lagos State Governor should use his administration to change the marginalization narrative towards Ikorodu Division by revisiting the composition of the commission as released by the Head of service of Lagos State Government.

Speaking on behalf of the youths of Ikorodu Division, Mr Kunle Adelabu further discussed on the issue of cultism ravaging Ikorodu, EndSars protest hijacked by hoodlums which led to insecurities in Ikorodu division, need to complete and construct more roads in Ikorodu particularly the Odogunyan and Itaoluwo axis, need to improve the situation of healthcare infrastructure and jobs employment for the youths in Ikorodu Division.
