Members of Ikorodu Federal Constituency were filled with joy as Honorable Babajimi Benson, member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Constituency, continued his outreach program by distributing food packs ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
Under his food bank initiative, “Apo Aanu,” which is part of the larger iCare Foundation, Hon. Benson distributed 500 food packs to families in need. The distribution event took place on February 22, 2025, at his constituency office along Ebute-Igbogbo Road in Ikorodu.
This initiative is aimed at providing support to vulnerable communities in the area and easing the challenges of the upcoming fasting period.
The food packs were distributed to residents from all six Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Ikorodu: Ikorodu Local Government, Ikorodu North LCDA, Imota LCDA, Ijede LCDA, Ikorodu West LCDA, and Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. As the event unfolded, beneficiaries from various walks of life expressed their gratitude for the assistance.
Among the attendees were distinguished dignitaries such as the Director General of the iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, Bldr. Adeola Banjo, the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, and representatives from the Community Development Committee (CDC).
The presence of religious leaders from both the Christian and Muslim communities highlighted the inclusive nature of the initiative, which aimed to foster unity across religious divides.
One of the beneficiaries, Amos Cynthia, who represents the physically disabled group, spoke on behalf of her community. “On behalf of all the physically disabled group, we thank the honorable for always remembering us with food packs. We are also grateful for the solar power kits he distributed in Ikorodu,” she said.
Another resident, Abubakar Giwa, shared his gratitude for the gesture. “I am grateful and very happy with what Honorable Babajimi Benson has been doing for the Ikorodu constituency. I also want to thank the Imam of Ikorodu West for giving us this opportunity to benefit,” he said.
