The Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS) has announced the maiden edition of the Ikorodu-Oga Sport Fiesta 2025.

The sport fiesta is a community-driven initiative aimed at discovering and developing sporting talents among secondary school students in Ikorodu.

Themed “Catch Them Young,” the fiesta will kick off on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, with the Ikorodu-Oga Marathon, a 50km race dedicated to His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi (GCIO), the Ayangburen of Ikorodu. The marathon will become an annual feature of the Ikorodu-Oga celebrations every Independence Day.

Other competitive events including athletics, swimming, badminton, table tennis, darts, chess, abula, and scrabble will take place from Saturday, October 18 to Saturday, October 25, 2025, at designated venues across Ikorodu.

Participation will be limited to secondary school students in the area.

The week-long sporting programme will begin with an opening clinic and rules briefing at the Ikorodu Town Hall, followed by competitions at selected venues.

It will wrap up with a grand closing ceremony and sports summit aimed at fostering dialogue on youth development through sports.

Speaking on the initiative, IKODASS Chairman Alhaji Fatai Olayiwola Kolawole (DCIO) said the event marks “a significant milestone in promoting youth development and community engagement through sports,” in line with the association’s ARISE Agenda.

The 2025 Ikorodu-Oga Sport Fiesta is organised by IKODASS in collaboration with community stakeholders and will serve as a platform to encourage grassroots participation in sports while building the next generation of champions.
