Aggrieved Ikorodu community members under the aegis of Ikorodu Ambassador, a group comprising of youths within the community drawn from diverse walks of life have come out to condemn what they tagged illegal practice and exorbitant fees brought on the community by Ikeja Disco .
According to information gathered by Black Box Nigeria from Mr. Lateef Solanke, a member of the group, corruption of the highest order from the Electric company has been allowed to thrive by the authorities and something urgent has to be done about it.
He further explained that the Electric Distribution Company’s recent action of distributing exorbitant bills as high as over Nine Thousand Naira (₦9,000) just two months after installing pre-paid metres is grossly not acceptable.
“After the installation of pre-paid meter for over 2 months for a community of over 200 houses, Ikeja Electric came around to issue bills of ₦9,192.02 for each building again.” He explained.
He finally questioned the procedure engaged by the Electric Company to arrive at the exorbitant bill.
“How can a house using pre-paid meter be given bill? Where did Ikeja Electric get the said amount from? “He lamented.
