Ijede LCDA Unveils First Model Primary School in Igbe-Ogunro

On Tuesday, January 7th, 2025, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, the Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), officially commissioned the first Model Primary School in Igbe-Ogunro, marking a significant step in the LCDA’s educational development.

The new school aims to improve access to quality education for residents and provide modern educational infrastructure for the community.

The Model Primary School is equipped with two blocks of six classrooms, staff rooms, modern toilets, an e-library, an ICT center, and standard furniture. The school also features a green area for recreational activities, offering a conducive learning environment for students. It is expected to serve Igbe-Ogunro, Igbe Oloja, and Igbe-Kapo, communities that previously lacked a nearby school, with children traveling long distances to attend schools in Ijede.

In her address, Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba emphasized that education is a central aspect of her administration’s development agenda. She explained that the school was built in response to the community’s need for better access to educational facilities, noting that residents had long expressed the need for a local school to reduce the burden of traveling far for education.

The chairman also highlighted other achievements in the education sector under her leadership, including the renovation of Ijede Library, the annual distribution of JAMB/UTME forms to indigent students, bursary awards, and the one million naira scholarship for the best graduating student from Lagos State University. These initiatives reflect her administration’s commitment to improving education and supporting students in need.

During the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, commended the project, calling it a reflection of purposeful leadership. He praised Hon. Gbadebo-Alogba for her dedication to improving the education sector in the LCDA.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Mr. Afolabi Amusa, the Education Secretary of Ikorodu LGEA, who also lauded the project, and other local leaders such as Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, and Hon. Suliamon Olarenwaju (SKO), Executive Chairman of Ikorodu West LCDA. Their presence underscored the collective efforts to enhance the educational landscape in the region.

This new Model Primary School in Igbe-Ogunro represents a significant milestone in Ijede LCDA’s ongoing commitment to the development of education and community welfare, providing local students with the resources and opportunities they need for a brighter future.
