Ijede LCDA Trains Youths At Vocational Centre, Empowers Graduands With Startup Kits

The leadership of Ijede Local Council Development Area, on Wednesday April 7, 2021, held a graduation ceremony and empowerment for graduands of the vocational centre located at Igbe Kapo, Ijede.

About 224 persons were trained in seven vocations — Makeover and gele tying, Catering, Barbing, Tiling, Bead and Soap Making Production, Hairdressing, and Fashion Design.

Beneficiaries were equally presented with financial support as well as startup kits for their respective skills.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA, Hon. Fatiu Jimoh Salisu said the programme was conceived in furtherance of his electoral promises and commitment to create jobs for the teeming youths, and empower them to become economically independent.

He added that the training took the resourceful youths of ljede LCDA off the streets to make them self reliant and contribute to personal and community growth and development. This, according to him, will make them unavailable to criminal gangs, cultism and other illicit acts, saying an idle hand is the devil’s workshop.

“To the graduating students, I advise you to be determined and focused on practising what you have gained from this vocational training in form of expertise and start up kits here and nurture and take the skill to the next level of development and economic sustainability,” Hon. Salisu added.

The Executive Vice Chairman, Mrs. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, told BlackBox Nigeria that the current leadership of the council is working tirelessly to better the lives of the good people of Ijede, particularly in terms of youth empowerment and socioeconomic development.
