IJEDE LCDA hosts chess training for children, youth

Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in partnership with Ikorodu Chess Club organized a chess training for children and young people.

According to Nurat Temitope Durojaiye, Chief Press Secretary, Ijede LCDA, the learning session targeted at early beginners of the game was held on Saturday, June 3rd at the Ijede LCDA Event Hall.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Athletes representative, Mr. Koleosho Ahmed Owolabi who doubles as the Nigeria Para Table Tennis Athlete lauded the efforts of Ijede LCDA for putting such a brilliant program together, describing the chess class as an opportunity to expose the children and youths to one of the best and life-changing skills.

Emmanuel Adetolani and Emmanuel Atoloye both from Ikorodu Chess Club took turns in training the kids on the rudiments of the game of chess.

The Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba led administration aims to provide a space where chess enthusiasts can gather to play games, learn from each other, and improve their skills which can be achieved through regular meetings, tournaments, and social events.

The game ended with eight participants winning exceedingly. Mr. Koleosho, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, presented the kids with their certificates of participation and gifts.

Also present at the event was the Supervisor for Youths and Sports, Hon. Oyedele Adenuga and members of the Agric and Social Development department.
