Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairperson, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, has emerged as the sole aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship ticket in the forthcoming 2025 Local Government elections in Lagos State.
According to the APC screening result sheet released recently, Gbadebo-Alogba, 35, scored an impressive 91% and was officially cleared, with no other aspirants contesting the seat and no disqualifications recorded. This positions her as the party’s unopposed candidate for the election in Ijede LCDA.
Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba has been serving as the Chairperson of Ijede LCDA since July, 2021, following a steady rise through the political ranks. Prior to becoming chairperson, she served as Vice Chairman of the LCDA and held the dual role of Supervisor for Health and Environment.
Born on April 1, 1990, into the family of Otunba Wasiu Gbadebo and the late Yeye Fausat Gbadebo, she hails from a lineage deeply rooted in community development and progressive politics. Her late mother was the pioneer Executive Chairman of Ijede LCDA and a former Lagos East APC Women Leader. Her grandmother, Alhaja Tohebat Amoke Onilenla, was also a well-known philanthropist.
Motunrayo’s academic journey began at NEPA Staff Primary School in Ijede and continued at Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta, before she proceeded to Lagos State University (LASU), where she earned a degree in Political Science in 2012 and later obtained a Master’s in Public Administration from the same institution in 2024. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate at LASU, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria.
Motunrayo is the founder of House of Tweetyz, a fashion and fabric merchandising company.
As a public servant, she has gained a reputation for her commitment to youth and women empowerment. In February 2025, she oversaw the graduation of 71 entrepreneurs from the council’s Skill Acquisition Centre at Igbe Ogunro. The program, which included vocational trainings such as fashion design, catering, hairdressing, and cosmetology, concluded with the distribution of start-up kits including sewing machines, barbing tools, generators, and beauty equipment.
Gbadebo-Alogba has also supervised major infrastructural projects during her first term, including the rehabilitation of major inner roads in Ijede, provision of solar-powered streetlights in key areas, and renovation of primary school blocks, all aimed at enhancing community development. She initiated the Ijede Women Empowerment Scheme, which disbursed seed capital to over 150 petty traders and widows.
Her philanthropic efforts have been especially impactful in the education sector, with a focus on supporting indigent female students.
