The 2021 Egbin Power scholarship programme pre-test examination took place at Powerfield College, in the Ijede Ikorodu area of Lagos State, on Monday.
The initiative, according to Egbin Power Plc, Africa’s largest thermal plant, is to help a number of well profound students of the school fund their education.
The event had in attendance the Executive Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba, who addressed the students of her alma mater.
In her speech, she appreciated the management of the Egbin Power Plant for the initative while charging the students to take their studies seriously.
“While I urge the participants in this pre-test examination to make the best of this opportunity, I wish to encourage them to prioritize their studies and shy away from societal vices. You must become the “ultimate champions” in your respective fields,” she said.
Gbadebo-Alogba also noted the continuous efforts of her government in providing quality education to the people of the Ijede community.
She said: “As a government, we will do everything on our part to deliver quality education for students in terms of policies and projects. Through collaboration and partnerships, we will ensure the growth of the educational sector, and ultimately, secure the future of our children.”
Our correspondent spoke to a number of students who expressed their excitement about the initiative, saying they’re hopeful to get selected as one of this year’s beneficiaries.
The council boss, after her speech, paid a goodwill visit to the Principal of the Powerfield College, Mrs Adeshina. In her remarks, the principal appreciated the support of the Executive Chairman, and expressed readiness to work with her administration in providing quality education in Ijede.
