A prince of the Fùṣẹngbùwà Ruling House, Omoba Salami Agoro-Odunsi, has petitioned Ijebu kingmakers and Governor Dapo Abiodun, urging them to dismiss the reported declaration of interest by Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) to contest for the Awujale stool.
In the letter addressed to the Ijebu-Ode Traditional Council and leaders of the Fùṣẹngbùwà Ruling House, Agoro-Odunsi described the musician’s claim of descent from the Jadiara branch as “genealogically impossible” and contrary to the registered chieftaincy declaration guiding succession.
He argued that KWAM 1, born in Lagos to a non-royal Ijebu father and Ekiti mother, has “no verifiable paternal link” to any branch of the ruling house currently entitled to produce the next Awujale. He noted that the artiste’s known honorary title aligns him with the Fidipote Ruling House, whose turn is not due.
Agoro-Odunsi warned that accepting an ineligible contender could violate tradition, trigger legal disputes and erode public trust.
He also called for an investigation into any family head who may have issued or endorsed a declaration form for an unqualified nominee.
He urged the ruling house and kingmakers to strictly uphold genealogical requirements as they prepare to nominate candidates following the passing of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, in July 2025.
As of press time, KWAM 1 had not issued any public response.
