IG Vs Onamade: Court Postpones Case Till November
The trial of the case instituted by Inspector General of Police of Nigeria, Usman Alkali Baba against cemetery owner, Mr Oluwatosin Onamade over his false allegation of murder against the former chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Fatiu Salisu has been postponed till November 29, 2022.
Onamade, the Chief Executive Officer of Western Funeral Home Limited had alleged that Fatiu was involved in the murder of Tony Godfrey, a worker of Western Funeral Home who died from injuries sustained during an attack by political thugs on the defendant’s cemetery premises.
The defendant, Onamade, was asked by the court to always report every Monday to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Lagos, while the plaintiff counsel was mandated by the court to ensure that the defendant is allowed to be accompanied by his lawyer to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The counsel to the defendant had earlier made an attempt to object to the plea of the plaintiff for the adjournment, which the judge overruled.
