President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Idris Olorunnimbe, founder and CEO of The Temple Company, as the new Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The announcement was made by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy

Olorunnimbe, a notable figure in Nigeria’s media and creative space, brings a unique blend of business acumen and public service experience.

Before establishing The Temple Company, a top talent management and media agency, he served as Personal Assistant to former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola.

He was previously named Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in 2023, but that appointment was later withdrawn without public explanation.

His new role at the NCC is seen by observers as a return to national relevance, now in a sector that is central to Nigeria’s digital transformation.

The Temple Company has worked across entertainment, media, and branding.

His appointment comes at a time when the NCC is expected to address critical issues like broadband access, data regulation, and the integration of content and communications technology.

Olorunnimbe will also serve as Vice Chairman of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) Board, alongside Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
