As many Muslims across the country continue the Ramadan fast on Wednesday in accordance with the directive from the National Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), the Chief Imam of Ibadan, Sheikh AbdulGaniyu Abubakry Agbotomokekere performed Eid prayer.
Held at the Ibadan Central Eid praying ground, Agodi, the prayer had in attendance some dignitaries such as Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan and Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Agbotomokekere had said Ramadan ended, saying he was going to lead the Eid prayer the following day — which he did true to his words.
Meanwhile, the NSCIA headed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, had announced that the Ramadan fast would continue as a result of the non-sighting of the Shawal moon by authorities last night, thus extending the Ramadan month to 30 days.
