President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed the successful rescue of 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State, as well as 51 of the kidnapped students from the Catholic School in Niger State, in a national update on the country’s security situation.
In a public address shared on Sunday, Tinubu revealed that he had earlier cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 summit in South Africa in order to coordinate domestic security operations.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued,” Tinubu stated.
“I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State have been recovered.”
The president reaffirmed his commitment to national security, saying he receives continuous updates from the frontlines and remains fully engaged in efforts to restore peace across the country.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” he assured.
