A Lagos State socialite, Farida Abdulkabir, has opened up about what drove her to attempt suicide by jumping into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.

Farida, who is also the owner of House of Phreedah said frustrations, failed marriage and many others pushed her into action on Thursday night.

Recall that a viral video showed Farida being restrained from taking her own life as some people tried to calm her down and reassure her that things would get better.

She was later taken away in her black SUV to an unknown location.

About two months ago, Farida had tied the knot with another Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, in a lavish ceremony.

Farida however said she regretted marrying Okulaja, who left her shortly after the wedding, adding that this, among others, was the reason she tried to take her life.

She stressed that she had been warned by her friends and family that he was only after her money, but she did not listen.

“I am so sorry for putting my children in such a position. I would not have forgiven myself if I had abandoned them after committing suicide.

It has been gathered that Farida and Okulaja were involved in a bitter online feud, exposing their dirty secrets and hurling insults at each other on social media.
