Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has vehemently denied rumors of his departure from the party, dismissing them as “fabricated” and “pure mischief.”
In a statement released on his official X account on Tuesday, Atiku reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the PDP while advocating for the swift merger of opposition parties.
Atiku’s statement comes in response to recent publication in The Nation Newspaper, which he referred to as “Tinubu’s ragtag,” insinuating his purported exit from the PDP.
However, Atiku refuted these claims, stressing that they are devoid of truth and purely aimed at causing confusion among party members and supporters.
Highlighting the urgent need for opposition consolidation, Atiku stressed the importance of uniting opposition parties to challenge the ruling party effectively.
“I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty to the PDP while advocating the swift merger of opposition parties. The urgency of this consolidation cannot be overstated”, the statement reads.
He underscored the significance of this consolidation, stating that the pursuit of power must not overshadow the imperative of effective governance.
Atiku criticized Tinubu’s relentless pursuit of personal agendas and myopic focus on 2027.
“Tinubu’s relentless pursuit of personal agendas at the expense of national governance is glaring. His myopic focus on 2027 betrays a disregard for the pressing needs of the populace. It’s high time he ceased his bumbling escapades and prioritised the welfare of the people”, the statement added.
