American rapper Snoop Dogg has asked Afrobeat singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, for a collaboration.
The rapper made this request in a video uploaded on his Twitter page, saying he is a huge fan of the Nigerian singer.
“So Tems, when are we going to make a record? You know I am a fan, let’s make a fucking hit record girl,” he said in the now-viral video.
Snoop Dogg further said, “You have my whole family dancing to your shit, I need one with you.”
Tems has been making big waves in the music industry both home and abroad since her feature on the remixed version of Wizkid’s “Essence,” which reached the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy Award nomination.
She has also collaborated with American rappers Drake and Future to produce ‘Wait for You’. This collaboration earned her an award in the category of the ‘Best Collaboration’ category at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Award.
Tems is also the first African artiste to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and her song ‘Free Mind’ debuted on the Hot 100.
She also co-wrote the theme song ‘Lift me Up’ of the blockbuster movie ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, which earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song nomination.
