Spain and Chelsea FC striker, Diego Costa has revealed that he was close to exiting the club last year after his poor performance during the 2015/16 campaign season.
His change of mind to stay has however help the Blues stay five-point clear at the top of the English League even though it has an outstanding match to be played on Wednesday.
“Did I want to go? Yes, yes, I was about to leave. But not because of Chelsea,” Costa said in a chat with BBC earlier today.
“There was one thing I wanted to change for family reasons, but it wasn’t to be, and I continue to be happy here.”
The Brazil-born Spain forward revealed that he has also curbed his aggression which has improved his on-pitch conduct this season.
“I knew I had to improve that aspect because here in the Premier League there is no mercy. A lot of the time it seemed the referees were against me. If they are not going to change I had to change.”
