Alhaji Taiwo Abiodun Odumbo has officially assumed the role of Education Secretary of the Ikorodu Local Government Education Authority, pledging to raise the bar in primary education across the division.

In a heartfelt appreciation message following his appointment, Odumbo described the role not just as a political position but as a divine mandate to serve, uplift, and transform the educational landscape of Ikorodu.

He expressed deep gratitude to key political and traditional leaders across Ikorodu Division, including members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) led by Chief Abiodun Ogunleye, former Lagos State Deputy Governor, and other GAC stalwarts such as Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Bashorun, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, and Senator Tokunbo Abiru.

Special recognition was given to Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member of the House of Representatives, whose support Odumbo described as pivotal.

“Your vision and unshakable belief in my capacity to deliver played a defining role,” he said.

Odumbo also highlighted the unprecedented show of unity by all six council chairmen in the division, Ikorodu LG, Ikorodu North, Ikorodu West, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, and Imota LCDA who jointly backed his appointment.

Equally acknowledged were the division’s revered traditional rulers, including the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Sotobi, and other monarchs, for their fatherly blessings and consistent support for community development.

“I do not come to manage mediocrity,” Odumbo stated emphatically.

“I come to inspire excellence.”

He also thanked Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, Lagos SUBEB Board Member, and other stakeholders for their behind-the-scenes efforts in ensuring the appointment became a reality.

With a mission to improve learning environments, empower teachers, and create better educational opportunities for pupils, Odumbo pledged to leave a legacy of excellence.

“Let it be said that in this moment, we chose vision over complacency, unity over division, and legacy over convenience.”

The new Education Secretary’s message concluded with a rallying call to the people of Ikorodu: “Let us build this legacy together.”
