By Social media has been awash with mixed reactions after popular gospel artiste and pastor, Sammie Okposo confessed to having an intimate relationship with an American lady, despite being a married man.
In an act of remorse, Okposo who is afraid that his marriage of almost 12 years might hit the rocks took to his Instagram page on Tuesday to tender a public apology to his wife, Ozioma. He also stepped down from “ministry activities”.
Interestingly, the Wellu Wellu crooner’s confession came after the mystery lady — later identified as African Doll — accused him of impregnating and abandoning her.
Narrating their affair in an interview with YouTuber, Obodo Naija TV, the lady disclosed that she met Okposo in Texas. The singer, at the time, was on a music tour in the United States in November 2021.
She revealed that he invited her to his hotel room where she spent the night and had sexual relations. African Doll also claimed that they dated for months until she found out she was pregnant in January.
Upon her discovery, she informed Okposo of the pregnancy, and to her shock, the singer asked her to abort the baby — and later blocked her on social media platforms.
“After I left the hospital and called him, he told me to do the needful and get rid of the child after I told him I was pregnant. He blocked me and called me names when the issue of the baby came up,” she claimed.
African Doll, however, stated she’s not trying blackmail him but Okposo’s irresponsible actions forced her to bring the matter to public knowledge.
While differing comments continue to trail the revelation, many are wondering if the public confession would be enough to save the singer’s marriage from falling apart considering his complicated history with women.
Recall that Okposo had an affair with Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw. The relationship ended on a sad note after she accused him of physical assault and domestic abuse. The actress even claimed that he once broke her angle.
He was also romantically linked to several other women in the entertainment industry such as Stella Damasus, Shade Ibru, among others.
Perhaps to avoid more backlashes from Nigerians over his recent ordeal, the minister of gospel has since locked his Instagram account.
