Two parents, Alun Titford and Sarah Titford have reportedly neglected and abandoned their obese 16-year-old daughter, Kaylea Titford to die covered in maggots in her filthy room.

This case was heard by Mold Crown Court in North Wales on Wednesday.

According to Daily Mail UK, Kaylea who was allegedly neglected by her father and mother was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, a birth defect in which a developing baby’s spinal cord fails to develop properly, which left her ridden to a wheelchair.

The teenager was reportedly “living in conditions not fit for animals” as she was forced to use puppy pads and go to the toilet on her urine-soaked floor. Her nails were also left uncut for six months, and well-grown maggots were found on the body.

The prosecutor in charge of the case, Prosecutor Caroline Rees KC, referred to her to have “lived and died in squalor and degradation.”

At the point of her death, Kaylea was said to have weighed 22.9st and was ‘morbidly obese’ with a BMI of 70.

The Titfords who were accused of gross negligence manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child blamed their negligence of Kaylea on laziness and denied the charges laid on them.

The trial was inconclusive and is expected to be ongoing for four weeks.
