The President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nasiru Idris has emerged winner of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State.
NAN reported that Idris clinched the APC guber ticket, beating other aspirants in the race including the Majority Leader of the Senate, Yahaya Abdullahi, at the election which took place on Thursday.
According to the final results announced by the returning officer, Idris Yahuza, the NUT President polled 1,055 votes out of the total 1,090 votes cast, while Gari-Malam got the remaining 35 votes. Interestingly, Abdullahi didn’t secure any vote.
The Kebbi APC guber flagbearer, Idris, reacting to his victory, commended APC stakeholders and delegates for the smooth conduct of the primary.
It would be recalled that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami had initially declared interest in the race. He, however, stepped down his aspiration and decided to retain his job, rather than resigning as mandated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
