Nigerians recently recorded a feat after the Senate passed a bill reducing the age for those intending to run for elected offices in what is widely known as the #NotTooYoungToRun campaign.
Top celebs now abusing the process
However while many are celebrating this huge fruition, many are skeptical the same politicians who have sabotaged the nation would use the bill when passed into law to their advantage by sponsoring their young kids to seek elective posts.
That notwithstanding, Nigerians continue to celebrate with many already taking advantage of the development.
However in what many are describing as a derogatory charade of the process, entertainers have begun abusing the campaign many observers have lamented to BlackBox Nigeria.
First it was actor,Yul Edochie who announced his his intention to run for the Governor of Anambra state. The decision of the son of legendary thespian Pete Edochie was widely applauded as many encouraged him.
However in a swift reaction, controversial pop star and Five Star Music boss, Kingsley Okonkwo popularly known as Kcee quickly joined in the race also releasing a campaign poster shared on his social media accounts. The ‘Pull Over’ crooner claims if voted to power, he would ensure that attention is paid to details.
However critics soon busted him him to be unserious as he couldnt even pay attention to details on his own poster spelling his first name wrongly and also bastadasing the state’s name to Anambara. This however doesn’t seem to deter Kcee who has released other posters.
It is however shocking to note that Kcee’s declaration might just be a stunt to promote his upcoming album which is titled ‘Attention to Detail
‘.
As if Kcee’s blunders were not enough, eccentric music act Terry G has also joined in the bandwagon but it appears the office of Governor is not enough for the Akpako Master. He has declared intention to run for both Governor and Deputy Governor of his native Benue State.
Also joining the dramatic trend is producer turned singer who was recently signed to Akon’s Konlive record label, Samklef who has also declared his ambition to run for Imo State Governor.
However his only message is to haters who would criticise his cap as not being fresh enough.
Now putting the icing to the mockery of the process is veteran comedian, Basketmouth who has also declared his intention to run for Governor. However Mr Bright Okpocha is not interested in just his Imo state, he wants 5 other lucrative states to add to his portfolio.
Basketmouth wants to contest for the governor of Imo, Abia, Rivers, Cross rivers, Rivers and even Lagos state.
One would wonder what the progenitors of the #NotTooYoungToRun campaign have to say about these developments.
