New details have emerged about the dramatic outburst involving Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who caused a stir at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, following her alleged refusal to comply with standard safety procedures.
BlackBox Nigeria confirmed in a video that after being detained for unruly conduct on board the Uyo-to-Lagos flight, Emmanson physically attacked security personnel inside the vehicle transporting her to the detention facility.
Inside the airport security van, she dragged one of the officers shirt before others came to rescue and attempted to damage property.
After throwing tantrum in the aircraft which led to being whisked away by the security operatives, she display another act of defiancy by dragging the security personnel’s uniform.
BBN360 reported that the whole saga began shortly after landing on Sunday when Emmanson reportedly refused to turn off her phone during descent.
According to eyewitnesses, the cabin crew requested compliance, but the passenger insisted her phone was in flight mode.
The situation escalated further when crew members barred her from disembarking and called security.
Despite initial efforts to calm her, Emmanson allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and later lashed out again after being taken into custody.
However, in a twist turn of events, an eyewitness who was also on board claimed that the event was a misunderstanding over a routine safety instructions.
He clarified that while the purser asked her to switched off her phone, she responded that her phone was already on flight mode but the purser reportedly insisted on enforcement.
