By House of Reps Take Delivery Of 200 Exotic Cars At N17m Each
The members of House of Representatives have taken delivery of 200 brand new Peugeot 508 cars it booked from the automobile company. The delivery is the first batch from the total number the lawmakers ordered for all its members. The vehicles were presented to the lawmakers in Abuja on Tuesday.
BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the vehicle which currently costs N17m each unit in the market was initially N10m each when it was approved in 2015. This have since affected the total cost which was N3.1bn to rise to N6bn.
It was learnt that the lawmakers were bent on buying the vehicles for themselves despite the current state of financial status of the country, which is bitting hard on the electorate.
BBN reliably gathered that the N17m car for each of the lawmakers of the Green Chambers is in addition to other severance package which they are entitled to at the beginning of each tenure. A source reliably revealed that among the package was N80m for each of the members for housing purpose.
An analyst disclosed that with the present minimum wage being N18,000 and the lawmakers buying a vehicle worth N17m for themselves reveals the insensitivity of the legislative arm to the yearnings of the population.
