By The Chairman of Odi Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Honorable Rasaq Olushola Ajala hosted victorious Under 10 and Under 15 players of Ghetto Light FC at the council Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon following their exploit at the Mushin Christmas Cup and the Prince Gas Cup respectively.
The Odi Olowo Ojuwoye LCDA based football club lifted two trophies in the month of December and gave a good account of themselves as outstanding ambassadors of the local council.
The Ghetto ballers as they are fondly called lifted the Mushin Christmas Cup only to follow it up with an impressive triumph at the 7th edition of the Prince Gas Cup.
Enroute to Victory in Igando the football club dislodged competitions from quality sides from Ebutte-Metta, Apapa Iganmu, Surulere, Ejigbo before rounding it up with a victory over Sharp Strikers Of Ikotun in the final.
The Chairman of the LCDA Hon. Rasaq Ajala admonises the young footballer to continue to be good ambassadors of the local council and assured them of his Continued support in their road to stardom.
Joining in the celebration party the Vice chairman of the local council Hon. Seyi Jakande also felicitated with the Ghetto ballers advising them not to lose focus as the journey to the top is one in which requires maximum focus and dedication.
One of the pillars of grassroot sports in the local council and the present Council Treasurer Mr. Shuaib Badmus also took time to address the young ambassadors.
He noted that academics remains a key ingredient of the career progression of a sportsman and a footballer inclusive.
He warned that the road will not be rosy at all times and when ever the team suffers a set back, just like a knock on the field of the play the players should get up as that will only make them stronger.
Other dignitaries who joined the victory party were the HOD Agric and Sports Mrs. Kehinde Oladunjoye, Supervisor for Health, Hon Rafeeu Obanle, Administrative Officer to the chairman Mr, Lukmon Ilori to mention a few of the notable attendees.
The Ghetto ballers will now round off an impressive season with there traditional end of the year match against their fans on Saturday 2nd of January 2021 and the 2nd edition of the Ghetto Light awards ceremony on Sunday 3rd of January, 2021.
